The travel has always been instrumental in the education of men and women. When we leave the family’s horizons and reach little known or unknown places, we prepare ourselves to experience not only relax, but also personal and inner growth. Visiting a tourism fair is the preview of a real departure, a moment that allows thoughts and senses to take off and fly towards new places, already feeling satisfyed while waiting. The Canton Ticino has in its DNA the vocation to tourism. It is thus very spontaneous to broaden our views to the beauties of the rest of the world. I therefore welcome all the guests on behalf of the Government of Canton Ticino and wish to all the participants to find here an answer to their desires.

With its very low unemployment rate and its very high level of income per capita, Switzerland has one of the best living standard in Europe. A very interesting market, especially for the tourism industry, thanks to the natural inclination to travel of the Swiss people, given by a high purchasing power and a huge availability of holidays spread all over the year, in low seasons as well. In facts, with an average of 2.5 trips per year (aged older than 15) and with 13 billions CHF spent overall in 2014, the Swiss are the people who have travelled and spent the most abroad in 2014, a trend which is definetely growing thanks to increase (plus 20%) of its already strong spending power in the Euro zone countries.


The Swiss International Holiday Exhibition, known also as IViaggiatori, is the leading touristic fair in Switzerland, which represents every year new destinations and travel ideas (Luxury travels, Spa&Wellness sector, Adventure travels, Food&Wine tours, etc.) and which aims at becoming the best platform for networking and business between the best of the tourism offer and highly qualified international buyers, through its specialised B2B workshops (Visit Italy, Meeting Luxury, MITM). The Exhibition is indeed a historic and well established event. In 2014 it has recorded more than 40’000 visitors coming from the Italian Switzerland, the German Switzerland and Northern Italy: a very reach visitors base, a unique market thanks to its spending power and inclination to travel.
